University Orthopedic and Joint Replacement Center is a physician-owned facility located in Tamarac, next door to University Hospital and Medical Center. Physical therapy services are offered to patients ages 16 and older on a specialized, on-on-one basis. We work closely with physicians to develop a plan of care specific to individual needs. All therapy is performed by our friendly, caring, state-licensed physical therapists with a physician on site to assist with any questions or concerns. Our physical therapy department is equipped to treat virtually all orthopedic diagnoses. Our goal is to treat our patients in a compassionate atmosphere, providing a full range of therapy modalities to help them improve function and, therefore, the quality of their lives.

Most physical therapy is covered by Medicare and private insurance; many HMOs also cover rehabilitative services. Workers' compensation, automobile accident, and privately paying patients are also welcome.
We specialize in rehabilitation after total knee and total hip replacement surgery. Our licensed and experienced physical therapists assist patients in rapidly improving their levels of function following surgery and in returning to their normal daily activities by achieving individualized, planned goals.
Aquatic therapy consists of exercises performed in our heated, indoor pool under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Exercising in the water is especially beneficial for those patients who are having difficulty or are experiencing pain while performing exercises on land, against gravity. Exercising in the water decreases pain levels by encouraging muscle relaxation and increases strength by having muscles work against the natural resistance of water.
With a prescription from your physician, we can perform bone density examinations with our on-site DEXA machine. We also prescribe exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and balance and provide body mechanic and postural awareness education.
Exercise are performed with a Pilates reformer/trapeze combination unit, as well as other Pilates equipment.
We also provide physical therapy for patients experiencing the following conditions:
